Back in Guatemala and a visit from family

After a short trip out of the country to renew our visas we are back in Guatemala. Almost as soon as we returned Becky's brother Dan and sister-in-law Kelly arrived for a visit. We meet them in Guatemala city and went to San Lucas Toliman for a few days. There we visited the lake and a few communities around the lake known for there steep terrain and colorful weavings. From there we spent a few days in the community visiting with the people and doing some hiking. We hiked the channel that takes water from the river for the water turbine. We also did some much needed work in the tree nursery. The day before yesterday we traveled by "chicken bus" to Antigua for a few days relaxing in the colonial town. Yesterday we hiked the active volcano Pacaya. The hike was crowded but went well and we got to see some lava up close. Today Dan and Kelly have to head back home and we head back to UV. It was fun to share our experiences with them and get to know them better over the last week.
