Hi everyone we are doing really well. We have been working hard over the last few weeks with the community on several projects. The first is to refurbish the wood burning cook stoves in collaboration with the Women’s Directiva in Union Victoria. The stoves are about 5 years old and many are in need of repairs. We will also be building several new stoves for new families. We are looking forward to starting construction this week. The second project is starting a small forest nursery at the elementary school. Working in collaboration with the teachers we hope to add some hands on experiences in sustainability, reforestation, and soil conservation to the school curriculum. This project is a little more abstract but our hope is to have the social connections and infrastructure in place for the start of the school year in January.
Also, very recent in the news here in Guatemala is the election of a new center-left president Alvaro Colom. Colom represents the first left leaning democratically elected president since the US orchestrated coup in 1954. He also represents the best chance in the pursuit of justice in Guatemala since the signing of the peace accords in 1996. Finally we are super excited to be coming home in December to be with you all for Christmas and New Years. It’s been about a year now since we were home and we can't wait to see everyone. Hope all is well.

I would love to get together if we happen to be somewhat near each other when you're back in the states. What does your itinerary look like?
We are so looking forward to seeing you and hearing all about things there! Glad that you will be speaking in both worship gatherings at Community of Joy on Dec. 9. Also hoping that Becky will be able to pickup her violin that day too... we now have a celloist and the two of you with Carol on piano will be awesome! See you soon... safe travels and peace!
